Workers Leaving The Factory (Arbeiter verlassen die Fabrik)

Harun Farocki’s 1995 video charts the history of workers appearing in film across the decades. Starting with the first film ever shot, showing the workers leaving the Lumiere Brothers’ factory, the video essay becomes a tacit expose of a history of employer/employee relations.
